Windows FTP Client for IT
Professionals and Others
Polaris FTP (Version 3.1) is a
32-bit Windows FTP client.
There are so many Windows FTP clients on the
market, why did we add another one? We actually developed this program
for our own use. When we needed a Windows FTP client, we tried to find
a suitable one on the market. We tested several well-known ones, but
none of them satisfied our needs. Most of them were designed to
download large files from the internet. Efficiency was a problem with
those programs. For example, they tried to build a directory tree of the
host when connection was established, which was annoying for IT
professionals who had access rights to too many drives and directories on the host. Many
functions, such as automatic resuming transfer after a broken connection was
re-established, were not practical for IT professionals. When tested
with AS/400 hosts, they all died, requiring re-booting the PC; therefore we
decided to write our own FTP client.
New Features in Version 3.1
Version 3.1 made some changes in user interfaces to let user enter directory
names and filenames directly without selecting them from lists. This
makes it easier for the user to specify files and directories when the lists
are very long.
Besides, Version 3.1 can handle more types of FTP hosts.
